Apple revealed the M2 chip at this year’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). Along with the launch, the brand confirmed that the updated MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro will be the first Macs to incorporate the new chip. The 2022 MacBook Air M2 now includes a notched display, MagSafe functionality, a remarkably thin design, and the next generation of Apple Silicon M2 Processor.
With overall performance and power efficiency gains, the M2 hits all of the boxes as a worthy companion to the M1 chip that started it all. Here’s all you need to know about Apple’s M2 CPU.
Features and Details of Apple Macbook Air With M2 Chip
The new MacBook Air has a bigger 13.6-inch Liquid Retina Display and narrower black bezels on all sides. It supports 1 billion colours and has a brightness of 500 nits, making it 25% brighter than previously. It is 11.3mm thick, making it somewhat slimmer than the previous-generation MacBook Air. The MacBook Air has two USB-C ports, a MagSafe port for charging, and a 3.5mm headphone socket with compatibility for high-impedance headphones. The new macbook air m2 India Air’s notch now includes a 1080p FaceTime HD webcam, and Apple has also integrated additional microphones and Dolby Atmos-supporting speakers in the design.
The 2022 MacBook Air comes in Silver, Space Grey, Starlight (a gold hue), and Midnight (a new dark blue colour). The MacBook Air’s battery may last up to 18 hours when watching movies or TV and up to 15 hours when surfing the web. It supports quick charging with an optional 67W USB-C power converter.
In comparison to the M1 processor, Apple claims the M2 chip features an 18% faster CPU, a 35% faster GPU, and a 40% faster Neural Engine. The new engine can now perform up to 15.8 trillion operations per second, a 40% improvement over the M1 processor.
While the M2 CPU is still a 5-nanometer chip like the M1, it has been improved using second-generation 5-nanometer technology. The upgraded technology has raised the number of transistors in the M2 chip to 20 billion, a 25% increase over the M1 device.
According to Apple, the extra transistors boost functions across the CPU. For example, the memory controller can now provide 100 GBs of unified memory bandwidth, a 50% increase over the M1.
It also has a Thunderbolt 2 connector and a Touch ID sensor for speedier logins and safe online purchases. This MacBook Air includes 90 days of free technical assistance and a one-year limited warranty. Let’s check the macbook air m2 availability and pricing.
